What is AFROTC? |
| The
Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is an educational
program designed to provide university students, both male and female,
with the opportunity to become Air Force officers after completing
their academic degrees. The Air Fore ROTC program provides cadets the
opportunity to develop and strengthen leadership skills while
maintaining a camaraderie within the corps. |

Program Information |
Air
Force ROTC offers a three or four-year program.
Most students enroll in the four-year program.
The program begins with the General Military Course. As a freshman
or sophomore, you'll normally attend one hour of class and one or
two hours of Leadership Laboratory each week. As a freshman, you'll
study the role of the Air Force in the modern world; as a sophomore,
the history of the Air Force. Before entering the Professional
Officer Course at the beginning of your junior year, you'll attend a four-week summer Field Training
course that
offers you a firsthand look at the Air Force environment.
During your junior and senior years, you'll enroll in the
Professional Officer Course. During this time, you'll study management principles
and defense policy. You'll also manage, organize, direct, and evaluate
the cadet corps activities. During Leadership Laboratory, you'll
learn about Air Force customs and courtesies, develop leadership and
management skills, and explore Air Force officer career
opportunities.
Once you complete the ROTC program and receive your degree, you will
be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and enter the Air Force on
active duty. Non-flying officers will serve a
4-year commitment, navigators will serve 6 years, and pilots will
serve 10 years. |
